Police respond to report of fire at Pi Kappa Alpha; fire contained

University Police and Rolla Fire & Rescue responded to a report of a fire at Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, Ninth Street and Bishop Avenue, before 5 a.m. this morning. The fire apparently was in the basement and was quickly contained and extinguished. There were no injuries and there is no danger to the campus or Rolla community. University Police advise people to avoid the area this morning.

Update at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 22: Officials believe the fire was caused by combustion associated with cleaning chemicals on some towels.
