U.S. Interstate 44 is now closed at mile marker 144 in Laclede County, southwest of Rolla, and as a result traffic is expected to be routed on to U.S. 63, which comes through Rolla. In addition, U.S. 63 north of Rolla is expected to be closed later today. Check the Missouri Department of Transportation’s website, traveler.modot.org/, for updates, and continue to use caution when traveling to or from campus.
Turn around, don’t drown
University Police reminds the campus community to avoid low-water crossings during periods of flooding. Just a few inches of water can be enough to carry a vehicle off the road. Turn around, don’t drown.
All members of the Missouri S&T campus community should be familiar with these types of weather conditions and the proper procedures for seeking shelter during severe weather activity. Missouri S&T faculty, staff and students are advised to sign up or update their contact information here. In the event of severe weather, emergencies or campus closures, Missouri S&T will notify the campus community through the mass notification system.
