Update: Suspect remains at large but no longer considered a threat to campus

The man suspected of stealing a car and assaulting an individual with a machete last night is still at large but is no longer believed to be a threat to the campus community, University Police and the Rolla Police Department say. University community members are advised to continue to be aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity by calling 911.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, of slender build and with dark hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a hooded sweatshirt.

As of 3 a.m. today, University Police reported that all campus buildings had been searched and were secured. See previous post for more information.
