S&T to shift to remote operations Wednesday

Missouri S&T will shift to remote operations Wednesday, Jan. 25, due to expected severe winter weather conditions and snow accumulation. Essential and other on-campus services will continue but may be limited or may begin later in the day. See below for more information on what services will continue Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, Rolla will be under a winter storm warning beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Stay safe during winter conditions by using the snow-ice priority removal routes and these winter weather tips.

Available services

  • Missouri S&T’s police department is open 24/7 and can be contacted at 573-341-4300. In an emergency, please dial 911.
  • Dining services will remain open, except Miner Break Cafe located in the library, which will be closed. For menus, hours of operation and more details, visit dineoncampus.com/mst.
  • The Student Recreation Center, Fitness Center and Curtis Laws Wilson Library will open at noon Wednesday with limited operations and will follow normal operating hours. If conditions justify closing these locations, updated messages will be sent to campus. The Phelps County Bank branch located in Havener Center will be closed.

Work arrangements

Please check with your supervisor to determine work arrangements. Employees fall into one of the following categories when a shift to remote work and learning takes place:

  • Those who will telework from home or another location.
  • Those who cannot carry out their duties through telework during a shift to remote operations and who are instructed that they are not required on site to work will be compensated.
  • Those who are required to telework and choose not to must take paid time off — either personal or vacation days.
  • Those who are required to work on-site and do not report to work may need to take unpaid leave or with supervisory approval, may use paid time off.

Details about S&T’s campus remote operations policies are available on the UM System website.

Be sure you are signed up for S&T Alert. A text message is the fastest way to receive alerts about emergencies and shifts to remote operations.
