Winter weather advisory

The U.S. National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Phelps County 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 through 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17.

Freezing rain is expected and total ice accumulations of up to two tenths of an inch and some areas could receive up to a quarter of an inch of ice. Winds will gust as high as 35 mph.

Untreated roads will likely become slick in spots, especially bridges and overpasses. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning commute.

Isolated power outages are possible due to ice accumulation on trees and powerlines as well as windy conditions. Slow down and use caution while traveling. Prepare for possible power outages.
